GRM Overseas exports traditional basmati rice, the classic aged raw basmati with a delicate natural aroma. Traditional basmati holds the top premium niche in the basmati category, and GRM mills, sorts and packs it at its certified plants in Haryana and Gujarat for importers in 65+ countries.
Basmati is aged for 12–24 months before milling and packing because aging lowers grain moisture, firms the starch structure and concentrates aroma. Aged basmati cooks into separate, non-sticky grains that elongate on cooking, while freshly harvested basmati cooks soft and short.
Each lot is lab-tested for moisture, grain length and purity before milling, sortexing and packing. Aged stock from a named crop year is a specification, not a marketing claim, so GRM states the crop year on request.
GRM processes and exports all major basmati varieties; see the sella and steam grades for the extra-long export varieties.
Traditional Basmati specification
Grain length, moisture, broken and purity values for traditional basmati are confirmed per lot. Ask for the specification sheet and crop year when you enquire.
