GRM Overseas exports 1121 golden sella basmati rice from its plants in Haryana and Gujarat to 65+ countries. 1121 is the longest-grain basmati variety (8.30–8.40 mm raw), and the golden sella (parboiled) process gives a firm, amber grain that stays separate through long, high-heat cooking — the standard rice for biryani, mandi and kabsa kitchens across the Gulf.
Well-aged 1121 basmati elongates from about 8.3 mm raw to 18 mm or more cooked, close to twice its raw length. That elongation is the attribute buyers prize most.
Golden sella is paddy that is soaked, steam-pressure-treated and dried before milling. The golden hue comes from this process; no colouring is added. The hardened grain holds its shape for several hours on a buffet and forgives a few extra minutes on the flame.
Soak 45–60 minutes, use roughly 1:2 to 1:2.5 rice to water for absorption cooking, and rest 10 minutes off the heat before fluffing.
